Transforming Communities Through Education 

The No More Violence Youth Convention is dedicated to advancing the saftey and awareness to protect youth from violence. The Convention strives to reduce the incidence and impact of aggression on children and families in our community through the education of the convention. This Convention has become a national and global model for the community in understanding the cause and impact of different types of violence on youth.
Volunteers changes everything and transform their own lives in the process of serving others. Volunteering in the NMVYC builds capacity for our communites to address critical needs and the need to decrease violence in  our communities. The NMVYC needs your help and support to help save lives.

No More Violence Youth Convention  (NMVYC) is a great opportunity to give back your time and talent to reach many communities we travel to help prevent and save lives.  With more volunteers being committed to the convention we are able to meet the needs of others. 

How you can help?

There are opportunities with the NMVYC in almost any capacity. What's exciting, you can volunteer from far and near. Take a minute to look at what opportuntiies are available that will work for you. 
If you don't see a position you are interested and would like to propose a position you are welcome to share . we are excited too see others ideas and we welcome all. 

  1. Media Coordinator
    love photography, videography, and social media? This is a great place to use those skills. NMV-Youth Convention works throughout the year to promote the Convention and connect with as many people as possible.
  2. Safety Team Coordinator
    helps with the safety of the Convention during the day and ensures all attendees, students, and guests are safely in their hotel stay. Safety team will work with host church as well the Board of Directors if any problems or concerns during the convention weekend.
  3. Housing Coordinator
    to provide information on convention website and updates along working with any church who needs reservation as well prices as well book all rooms. Respond to communication from convention members and guests through email or phone. Create and maintain reservation records and promptly processes any cancellations and modifications before Convention. Communicate with Organization Board of Directors.
  4. Volunteer Coordinator
    Oversees the recruiting for the NMV-Youth Convention and scheduling of volunteer workers. Ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the convention. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others working along with NMV Board of Directors.
  5. Fundraising Coordinator
    develops fundraising strategies and oversees all aspects of fundraising programs for the NMV-Youth Convention throughout the year working along with Board of Directors and the convention members and churches and how they can participate. Creates fundraising goals and solicit funds to meet these goals. Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.

NEED COMMUNITY HOURS?

The No More Violence Youth Convention welcome community youth every year to a 2-day Youth Convention, fun weekend of giving back their time and talent, along with meeting new people and learning. What a great opportunity to recieve community service hours or volunteering while promoting nonviolence and helping to raise the awareness.

Please register the date you would like to volunteer or recieve community service hours. After registering the Community Service Director will contact you to welcome aboard. If you are a parent and would like your son/daughter to recieve community service hours, please register as well.  Community Service Hour students will recieve a certificate of completion after serving hours.  P lease send an email to Yolanda Torrence stating what date you would like to volunteer. 

Community Service Hours- Workshop Classes
Students who attends Workshop Class will recieve Community Service Hours with a Certificate of completion. Students will need to share with Instructor they are here to recieve community service hours.

Friday July 20th- "We Stand Together" Victims Balloon Release
Duties:  (Victims Balloon Set Up)
  • Where: 509 South 42nd Street Killeen, Tx 76543  (church parking lot)
  • Time: 6:00PM-7:30PM (volunteers arrive at 4:30PM) (please arrive on time for instructions)
  • (students are welcome to stay for program. Program starts at 7:00PM - 9:00PM ( extra hours of community service is available)
